Am I the right therapist for you?

I understand that looking for the right therapist can be time-consuming, so let me share with you some basic information about my background and personality and see how that feels like:

I was born in Athens,  the capital of one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Greece!  I don't know if it is in my Greek genes, but from a very young age I have developed an insatiable curiosity, a deep admiration and a great respect for the ways the human mind, heart and psyche unfold.   Always wondering, always helping, always thirsty to learn the whys and hows.  Psychology became my calling.

I feel so blessed and grateful to have been able to turn my passion into my profession.  While studying, I have worked gaining valuable experience from other professional areas, like tourism and translations, teaching and office administration, before I finally qualified as a psychotherapist in the year 2000 (
Bachelor (BA) degree in Psychology, a Master's (MA) degree in Clinical Psychology and a Diploma (Dip)  in Family Systems Therapy), Completed Training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples).  Apart from my mother tongue Greek, I have studied and speak fluently English and French,  which enables me to work in all three languages.   I am a MBACP registered member (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere with the Associations' Ethical Frameworks.

During those past 20 years, I have gained  a lot of experience working with individuals, couples, groups and families.  I have also participated and organised various seminars on work & life balance, as part of EAP (Employee Assistance Programs) for various organisations.

Today the focus of my work is mainly on Individual  and Couples therapy while every so often I organise seminars and workshops on relationship issues.

My core approach to therapy is family systems theory, which simply means that we will talk a bit about your family of origin.  This will help us understand the social context to which you were born into, and how this system has influenced and shaped who you are today and what parts you want to change or evolve.  Furthermore, I have studied, personally tried and integrated to my work a number of other evidence - based therapeutic models which I extensively use, depending on the issues I’m treating.  Here are some of the most common approaches I use:
  • Mindfulness and Meditation
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
  • Gestalt therapy
  • The Gottman's Method for Couples Therapy
  • Ether Perel's transformative approach and techniques for couples
  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

But what do people like more about me?
The thing my clients claim they most like about me, is how warm and comfortable I help them feel, right from our first meeting.  They appreciate how open minded, understanding, honest and straightforward I am.  I am lively and energetic and I believe to have a very good sense of humour.  I am not distant and just nodding, I can be a little protective and motherly at times, and I will self- disclose events from my own therapeutic journey whenever I see fits.  I am flexible but I expect people to respect the boundaries we set and agree to from the beginning of our work.   I use my expertise but I don't pretend to know everything.  I learn a lot from my clients and for that I am always grateful!

The people I work with best, are those who commit to their growth, they come determined to do the work and express themselves freely about their struggles to create new habits or try new things.  I enjoy enormously working with people who respect our time and efforts, and I am eagerly and wholeheartedly present in every session whether they share their worst days or celebrate their victories and progress.

My office is located in Central London but I also offer online therapy from the comfort and convenience of your home.

I like to maintain a limited caseload because that I believe is the best way to provide the best quality of my time, expertise and care for my clients.    All studies show again and again that regardless of what techniques and approaches we use in therapy, it is precisely the quality of the relationship we built with our clients that actually provides healing and change.  My clients deserve to find the way to live the life they wish and hope and I am offering my best to secure that!
