How does it work?
I conduct individual sessions in my office in Central London, usually every Saturday. This has been very convenient, because people don't have to rush after work, tired and stressed in the late evenings, with their minds busy and compressed. Having therapy time on a Saturday, give people the time and space to focus on their self-care more effectively, on a day that is less demanding. When they leave, they have the time to go for a walk and reflect on our work as they go on to enjoy the rest of their weekend.
Alternatively, I also offer therapy online. To be honest, when I first tried practising online, I never thought it would work as well as therapy in -office. I thought we would feel distant and without the energy that is productive and useful for therapy. To my great surprise most people reported that they didn't notice any great difference. Once I meet my clients in person for a few sessions and we establish our relationship, then we can easily change to online sessions, if they wish. At times they have to travel, or they get sick or something urgent comes up, so we can arrange for online sessions. From the comfort of your home, office, or hotel room, we now get to have a session without needing to worry about traffic or setting aside additional time out of your day to travel to my office.
Online therapy also allows me to reach people who want to work with me but they live in other cities or move to other countries and they may not have access to high-quality providers or they do not want to go to another therapist.
In a lot of ways, I came to appreciate online therapy and I find it now similar to in-office therapy. There’s no confusing software to download — all you need is an internet connection and a pair of headphones for privacy.
